LiFi (Light Fidelity) or Wireless networking with Light
Overview
Li-Fi is a communication technology that uses visible light to transmit data. Instead of the radio frequency spectrum that is used by Wi-Fi, Li-Fi uses the visible light spectrum. Typical FSO and Li-Fi are similar in that they both use light, require line of sight and can provide high data speeds, but differ in that Li-Fi tends to use visible light frequencies and LEDs versus FSO’s use of Lasers, Li-Fi is typically used indoors over shorter distances. Li-Fi can also refer to systems that blend elements of FSO and Li-Fi together, such as using lasers in the visible spectrum. [1]
