GS-400 (RHINO)
Overview
The GS-400 (aka RHINO) is an optical ground station that provides high-throughput uplink and downlink data streams for satellites in LEO. RHINO achieves data rates of 10 Gbps, consumes little power, operates at a low temperature, and can transmit up to 50km in air or 1400km in space. [1] RHINO has an aperture size of 400 mm and compensates for atmospheric interference using software algorithms. [2] The GS-400 is, at present, one of the only serially produced and commercially available laser ground stations for space applications on the market. [3]
