Aircision is a technology-based startup located in Eindhoven, Netherlands, that focuses on developing laser technology for FSO communications. On January 30, 2020, Aircisison announced success in the lab tests conducted at the Netherlands Organization for applied scientific research, where they were able to demonstrate resistance to atmospheric attenuation as well as a high data transmission rate of 100 Gigabits per second. The next phase of research is to conduct field tests under adverse atmospheric conditions to demonstrate the success of the product under real-world conditions. The goal for this research is to roll-out the first laser-based 5G network for urban and rural areas around the world. This research is being conducted in partnership with HighTech XL and CERN in Switzerland as well as ASML and Philips.
