WORK Microwave GmbH
Work Microwave is a German company founded in 1986 that develops and manufactures high-performance equipment for satellite communications, navigation, radar, and other wireless applications, such as for example the DOG-DA4 Free Space Optical Detector1, which is a fibre-coupled optical detector for the reception of optical free space communication that features four highly responsive InGaAs avalanche photodiodes (APD) with fibre-coupled input suitable for space downlink applications.[2]
WORK Microwave has been selected by a major operator of ground station networks to deliver a turn-key Digital Optical Ground station (DOG) for a U.S. government program that requires secure and resilient optical space-to-ground communication via laser link. The system is turn-key, consisting of the DOG-M1 Multi-Mission Optical Modem , the DOG-DA4/DOG-DA Optical Detector, the Optical Amplifier for the uplink, and a telescope.[3] The units support both CCSDS and SDA standards.
The M30 optical receive only modem is also being used developed as part of the European Space Agency’s M30 program [4] and the ARTES Strategic Programme Line for Optical and Quantum Communication – ScyLight program.
